Maintenance Lead & Safety Coordinator (Alamance, Orange & Randolph Counties)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000/yr

Maintenance:
• Support for overall maintenance for agency

• Take a first look at needed when issues arise and complete tasks that do not require specialist training to repair including plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration;
identify when outsourced maintenance is required and schedule and follow through until task is complete and check for quality.
• Ensure systems are in operating condition and meet safety standards.
• Report situations requiring emergency and/or immediate action to the appropriate personnel.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance and make minor repairs; identify when maintenance is needed from outsourced services.
• Oversee landscape operations and snow removal at 3 OE Facilities
• Assure that all OE equipment and tools are in good working order
• Obtain and complete required reports (Fire Marshall, sprinkler systems, scales, emissions, etc.)
• Manage maintenance supply inventory and the ordering process, as needed
• Support Production operations through loading/unloading delivery truck; driving delivery truck.

Safety:
  • Support the development of health and safety policies and programs
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (use of machinery, chemicals, client/staff safety, weather, fire, personal, emergency situations, etc.)
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation, policy, needs assessment, etc.
  • Work with staff and clients to train on safety procedures and personal safety, etc.
  • Initiate and organize competency-based training of all employees and clients
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
  • Oversee safe installation, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Oversee, schedule and follow up with mandated external inspections including boilers, air compressors, fire extinguishers, alarms, sprinklers, fire marshal, HVAC etc.
  • Oversee, compile and report to management on internal safety inspections monthly and complete annual safety report
  • Record and investigate situations, near misses and critical incidents to determine causes
  • Prepare reports on occurrences including analysis and provide statistical information to upper management
  • Auditing production, keeping on the lookout for any unsafe behavior or breaks in regulations
  • Inspecting production equipment and processes to make sure they are safe
  • Ordering repairs for unsafe and/or damaged equipment
  • Focusing on prevention by keeping up with equipment maintenance and employee training
  • Participating in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques
  • Creating safety plans that include suggested improvements to existing infrastructure and business processes
  • Sharing information, suggestions, and observations with project leadership to create consistency in safety standards throughout the production team and the entire company
  • Meeting company health and safety goals
  • Investigating causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions on the job site
  • Liaising with law enforcement and other investigators who are present at the time of a serious incident
  • Reviewing and reporting on OE compliance with health and safety rules


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to work under varying climatic conditions, indoors or outdoors, in cold or heat for       
  extended periods.
• Able to work standing for 8 hours plus
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and move to available conveyance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 years of maintenance experience.
  • Supervision experience a +.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities a +.
  • Training and technical assistance experience preferred.
  • Essential job duties require knowledge of building maintenance; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and automotive systems and how to evaluate and contact repair services, landscaping, roofing, custodial experience a +; Knowledge of Federal and local safety regulations and requirements.
