Salary Range: $19.00/hr with ability to earn commission

Position Overview: OE Enterprises is a non-profit company with 50 years of experience serving individuals with disabilities in North Carolina.  The Community Employment Specialist will be responsible for helping people with disabilities to find and maintain competitive employment. This role involves connecting individuals seeking employment with local employers and providing assistance through assessment, job readiness training, job matching, and job coaching to help them achieve independence. The goal is to increase the number of individuals with disabilities placed in integrated employment within Orange, Alamance, Randolph, and surrounding counties while decreasing the number of individuals in segregated employment. 
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The Community Employment Specialist requires a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must have experience working with individuals with Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to work independently without direct on-site supervision.  The role demands a candidate with exceptional patience, compassion, and the ability to communicate effectively, always ensuring professional interactions. Certifications in CPR, first aid, and NCI+ are preferred but can be provided by the employer. Finally, candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.  

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Engage in active marketing to secure employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities  
  • Assist participants with the application, hiring, and onboarding process when securing employment opportunities 

  • Facilitate onsite job instruction tailored to individual needs and interests, promoting optimal job placement 

  • Implement and monitor personalized goals and plans for each individual 

  • Serve as a mediator between employers and employees to fulfill mutual requirements 

  • Provide safe transportation for individuals, ensuring confidentiality and privacy 

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements 

  • Deliver ongoing support and guidance post-placement to ensure long-term success 

  • Ensure timely and accurate billing submissions in accordance with weekly deadlines 

  • Participate in professional development and training to stay informed on best practices 

  • Strive to meet or exceed quarterly targets through effective job placement and coaching strategies 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Physical Requirements 

  • Able sit and stand for long periods 

  • Able to work in varying climate conditions, indoors, outdoors, in cold, or heat 

  • Able to drive to various work sites as needed
